What's New with You? February 2009 Newsletter
|
Dear Reader,
As
a valued or potential customer of Alamein Products & Services we
aim to provide you with news and information relevant and of interest -
to you.
This month we look again at the hot and pressing topic of Duty of Care in fleet management.
If your business is not considering this area at present then perhaps a
word in the Directors ear, or developing an implementation plan, is a
good idea.
In 'meet the customers' this month we introduce you to Mike Pyett of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, and learn about what car "went like a rocket" and how the recent blizzards changed his priorities.
In the 'Aston's techie tips' the release of the latest XDA the 'Flint' is featured and is certainly worth a look.
If you have any relevant or important news you believe fellow users of our products may be interested in please email us and we will see about getting this into a future issue. |

The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act came into force in April of 2008.
Under
this new Act, employers have a duty of care to ensure the safety of
employees driving for work purposes - whether their own or a company
vehicle.
The
revised legislation makes it easier to prosecute companies that fail to
protect people - and there are some hefty pemalties for
non-conformance, particulary involving fatalities - with management and
directors now more accountable for these incidents.

Meeting the Customers - Tracking ambulance movements has improved over the years... |
This month we would like to introduce Mike Pyett, Facilities Manager at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
With 23 years service under his belt, and not quite long enough to know
the lady in the picture, he was more than happy to answer a few light
hearted questions about his favourite comedian & music.
Before
he was allowed to have fun he was asked about the more serious
challenge of managing a fleet of ambulances, and as a user of the
Alamein products what would he say is the primary benefit?
Mike replied, "The
main benefit Alamein technology brings to me is one of confidence.
Confidence that when I am questioned about vehicle activity or patient
journey details I am positive the information will be readily
available, real time and accurate".

XDA with the 'Flint' goes full screen.
O2
have released their latest XDA the 'Flint'. Based on the HTC X7500
this large screen terminal is available to business customers only. We
see the 'Flint' screen mounted on the vehicle dashboards for
applications where the larger screen is warranted for the display of
more information. The 'Flint' screen can still be used in mobile form
suited to field applications where data recording within complex forms
is required.
