Welcome to our April edition of The Mobile Message.

By implementing
mobile solutions, which provide workers with access to data and vital information when they are away from the office can benefit businesses in many ways. These solutions help improve the productivity of all types of professionals and organisations who need to access and report critical business information when they are working on the go.

This month's newsletter focuses on delivering the right mobile solutions to
help everyone work effectively, even when away from the office.

In this newsletter we look at:

*  How a taxi firm's own goal was avoidable

*  How companies are benefiting by making 'mobile workforce enablement' a technology priority

*  How the Metropolitan Police is planning to embrace tracking technology

*  The up and coming Private Hire & Taxi Exhibition

We would welcome your comments and feedback on this newsletter and would ask that you forward it to any colleague who may find it of interest.

Mobility for the People-Ready Business

A growing number of companies are supporting a workforce filled with people who perform their jobs outside of the office. By giving their people access to the real-time data and vital information they need to do their work while on the go, these companies are seeing many benefits. These benefits include greater worker productivity by decreasing time lost while on the road or telecommuting, greater efficiency by replacing paper-based processes, and increased customer satisfaction because workers can respond to customers quickly, even when they are away from the office. In addition, organizations can take advantage of scalable and flexible solutions that adapt to their business needs as they grow.

Companies now realise that mobile solutions can be used to drive a competitive advantage and are making “mobile workforce enablement” a technology priority.

Long arm of the law extends a little wider

News this month that the Metropolitan Police is planning to embrace navigation and tracking technology that will allow the force to pinpoint any of its 31,000 officers to within a few feet of their location.

The same technology that is used in Alamein’s Messaging, Navigation and Tracking Service (MNTS) will form the basis of the Met’s Automated Personal Location System (APLS).
