Efficiency on the move
Efficiency
and control are important factors in competent fleet management - but
what are the issues that so often prevent them from happening in the
workplace? Communications is often a key issue - from the cost
of mobile phone calls to the difficulty in contacting workers who are
out in the field. Trying to find out if jobs have been completed, if
they were successful, if the worker is available for more work, all add
to the stress and noise levels in a busy control office. Click here to read more
Case Study: MNTS Optimising Community Transport with Thames Valley Operators
Nearly
right, but not quite, is how Thames Valley Operators would have
described their original scheduling system. Now, with the system backed
up by Alamein’s mobile communications solutions, it is second-to-none.
Thames
Valley Operators (TVO) comprises Slough Community Transport,
Wokingham’s Keep Mobile service and Swindon Dial-a-Ride and each
section shared a need to track vehicles and drivers in order to provide
the most efficient service possible.

Techie Tip - HTC P3300/XDA Orbit SD Card Enhancement
HTC have released a patch for the P3300 (XDA Orbit) to improve the handling mechanism of SD memory cards. The Alamein MNTS system utilises SD cards as TomTom uses them to store and access the driving maps. Alamein have tested this enhancement and believe it improves overall system stabliilty and reduced 'lockups'. More information and download is available from the web locations below.
PLEASE NOTE that this patch is applicable to HTC P3300/XDA Orbit ONLY.
