Mike Pyett, Facilities Manager for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, works with DHL to provide transport for the safe and efficient delivery and collection of non-emergency patients from medical appointments. I like the variety in my job and the people I work with and come into contact with, everyday is totally different.
What is your most pressing issue today?
Trying to verify invoice information to get them paid against a strict deadline, no, just been moved off that to concentrate on accommodation and transport for staff affected by adverse weather conditions.
What is a typical day like for you?
Predictably unpredictable! No 2 days are the same.
If you could wave a magic wand what would you change and why?
Nothing! Am happy with things as they are… if the job or life was easier it would be far less interesting - you should always be very careful what you wish for!
Name one mistake or experience that you learnt from most, and how did you resolve it?
If there is one bit of advice you would give to an apprentice just starting in your position what would it be?
Don’t be afraid to make a decision, right or wrong it doesn’t matter just make the decision and if it turns out to be wrong then learn from it.
